Batterie forni coke - ILVA Taranto
Cliente: OMEV
Data: 2013
Località: Taranto
Tipo di impianto: Coke oven plant

The projetc’s aim was:

  1. Thermoconvective emissions
  2. Pollution abatement
  3. Ventilation and filter system

1. Thermo-convection gas emitted by batteries during coke oven processes are calculated. A proprietary software calculation model is used, generated in many years of ongoing studies and experience, however constantly evolving and improving. The calculation software is concerned about:

  • Heat exchange between incandescent coke and ambient air
  • Heat exchange between the inner walls of the open oven and ambient air
  • Combustion of the organic content not yet distillated during coke pushing when in contact with ambient air.
  • Heat exchange between the external surfaces of coke oven (doors, structures, walls) and ambient air.

2. The pollutant emissions capture system generated by coke pushing has been designed as:

  • Coke transfer machine equiped with hoods:
    • Door opened hood
    • Door hood in cleaning position, active during this operation
    • Guide car hood, wrapping the walls of the guide itself. At the top aspirates the emissions generated during the fall of the coke in the wagon, conveyed by the walls.
    • Lateral hoods over quenching car on both sides of guide coke that are able to capture the emissions from the coke lying on wagon.
  • Nr. 2 hoods over quenching car during its incandescent coke loading. These hoods follow up the quenching car to the quenching tower and then until to the unload coke ramp.

The hoods are designed with the following considerations:

  • Be placed as close as possibile to source of emissions
  • Appropriately dispense the evacuated flow rate across the suction face.
  • Concentrate the suction in areas where smoke easily comes out of the hoods themselves, that is, the perimeter of the hood itself
  • Be equipped with partiering valves that activate the suction only when that specific emission is active

3. For the dedusting of the atmospheric emissions related to the hoods on the coke pushing, an integrated system of three filter aspiration groups was provided, each attached to a heat group, but interconnected with the other two.
